Roy Ben Bashat is a guitarist, songwriter, producer, and mix engineer based in Brooklyn, NY. A deeply committed artist, Roy channels his core beliefs of compassion, equanimity, liberation, love, and non-attachment through a wide range of creative endeavors.

As a songwriter, Roy’s most recent project, Songs from Self Retreat, is a collection of songs born during a month-long self-retreat in the northern region of Israel in the summer of 2022. This retreat, dedicated to exploring the intersection of his two greatest passions—music and Buddhism—was a time for reflection and creation. Immersed in the study of Dharma texts, poetry (primarily by Rumi), and meditation, Roy wrote an album that blends philosophical, Rumi-inspired lyrics with unique sonic landscapes, intricate production, and evocative guitar parts. Songs from Self Retreat will be released in September 2025, with two singles already available on all streaming platforms.

In addition to his solo work, Roy is an accomplished guitarist and sideman, having performed on some of the world’s most renowned stages, including Smalls Jazz Club, The Jazz Gallery, NYC JazzFest, Red Sea Jazz Festival, Webster Hall, Palladium Times Square, The Kennedy Center, and more. He has worked with prominent bandleaders and artists such as Luis Perdomo, Noah Preminger, Stephane Mgebrishvili, Lex Korten, Mimi Jones, and Tia Fuller, both in the NYC music scene and internationally.

Roy is also an experienced producer and mix engineer, having collaborated with artists including Sarah Michelle Lee, Lena Kutscher, and PAULA T.
